Why is NLP interesting? Well, it just is. And when it is boring, you will know that you have enrolled in the wrong program.

Lives change for the better in NLP classrooms. Of course, NLP is interesting, provided the program is facilitated by a seasoned NLP trainer. But even something as interesting as NLP can be delivered in such an ineffective manner that it becomes boring. Like a bad singer can ruin even a Grammy-winning song, a bad NLP trainer can put a classroom filled with eager participants to sleep.

Being so close to the fountainhead of learning, I gratefully imbibed the concepts and was able to tap into their full potential. I still ensure that I take time out from my busy schedule to attend couple of programs in a year from the co-developers of NLP, and NeuroSemantics. It was only later that I came to hear about across inept, fake and fraudulent trainers in India who did not even a rudimentary understanding of NLP concepts. They were therefore unable to leverage these concepts in their own lives. As a result, participants who attended programs delivered by these trainers became convinced that NLP was a sham science. That’s a loss not just to the participants but also to the whole of humankind. Had these participants attended an authentic program, they would have gained much, achieved their true potential and made the world a better place. If an NLP trainer does not have adequate grounding of the NLP concepts and have not understood the concept of ‘apply to self’ then they are not Real NLP trainers, and their programs will not that punch as their own incongruence will get exposed.”

Being a practical science, authentic NLP programs are designed to be experiential. Which means that the experience of learning NLP in a classroom will be infinitely more effective than reading the best books on the subject. And these are the factors that make the experience so memorable, and that answers Why NLP is interesting in many ways.

1.   NLP training has immediate impact

A person unable to let go of a deeply-felt phobia will, in mere minutes, be able to overcome that phobia in front of his fellow classmates. It’s a spectacle that must be witnessed to be believed.

Similarly, you will notice blind spots come into purview and self-imposed limitations get acknowledged with honesty. By the end of the program, the optimism in the classroom would create a halo around every participant. Even a seasoned veteran feels the excitement of a curtain rising when they address a fresh batch of NLP students. Every person in the room comes with their own experiences and expectations. And the facilitator must leverage all his/her expertise and experiences in order to serve their needs. It helps when the trainer understands the cultural nuances that matter and the underlying presupposition is there are similarities between people of all cultures, which an expert NLP trainer will be able to spot and tap into.

Since it is the participants who make each batch unique, the NLP trainer must know how to tap into their personal experiences. The trainer must necessarily address the specific needs of the participant who is sharing while also making the lesson generic enough for everybody present. That’s an art that gets developed over time. But a trainer who is able to achieve this acquires a deeper appreciation of NLP concepts. And the next time he/she addresses a classroom, he/she can offer richer insights.

3.   The NLP training is playful

Transformations need not be sombre all the time. They could be achieved playfully, through fun activities, storytelling and humour. The best NLP trainers work hard on creating a signature presence in the classroom that is as welcoming and entertaining as it is impactful.

4.   The NLP training is balanced

Given the intensity of transformation that happens, participants will feel challenged as their comfort zones are whisked away from them. They might feel extremely vulnerable. Therefore, a good trainer will encourage and nurture them through the rapid changes occurring in their thought processes. The challenge must be balanced by care and concern.
